Craftcha (a portmanteau of Crafts and Katcha or “Crafts out of Katcha”), is a micro-business enterprise that offers handcrafted products made from repurposed and upcycled materials since 2009. It innovates and creates useful household goods made of flour sacks, old jeans, outdated clothing, and waste cloth. Started as a family business, back in 2009, we were one of those who experienced the impact of Typhoon Ondoy in Metro Manila. It kindles us to put up a business that advocates cloth waste management in minimizing plastic bag use. Our products started from reusable tote bags, laundry sacks, aprons, kitchen towels, and linens out of Katcha (flour sacks) cloth. The continued support of our patrons with our goods has translated to us crafting different goods made of various repurposed raw material, hence, expanding our product line. For more than a decade of crafting, we are now branded as “Craftcha – 99% upcycled goods, handcrafted for the love of nature”. We aim to produce cost-efficient, environmentally friendly, functional, and beautiful products. We make goods and services that are reasonably priced, making it more accessible and available for people coming from all economic strata. By using katcha and other waste cloth as our raw material, we hope to encourage people to appreciate and practice upcycling, live sustainably, and to promote creativity and awareness on effective management of waste cloth.
